You did it!

Woah, you just spent a lot of time growing a baby in your womb.

And then…you gave birth. Congratulations!

  • You are so excited to welcome this baby who you have prayed and dreamed for so long into your home.

  • You are so overjoyed at the miracle and gift that God has given you.

  • You’re experiencing the tremendous love that is innate within us for this precious little baby.

  • You can’t take enough pictures of how cute they are.

  • Your heart has tripled in size with love for your husband and what you created together.

  • You can’t wait for this new baby to meet their siblings.

  • Your body just went through a tremendous physical event.

  • Your hormones are taking you on the craziest emotional roller coaster.

  • You are tired.

  • Your boobs are tender and are overwhelmed by breastfeeding.

  • You’re trying to process the impactful birth you just experienced.

  • Feel on edge and easily aggravated by your husband’s help.

AND

Both can be true.

Yes, babies needs are important…

And you are important too.

Thriving babies need a happy and healthy mama.

The postpartum period is full of varying needs. My role as your postpartum doula would be to support you in whatever would be most helpful to you as you welcome your new tiny miracle into your home.

Postpartum care can often include but not limited to...

Mom

  • Encourage mom to find things to care for herself (shower, hair/makeup)

  • Allow mom to rest and take a nap/read a book/go for a walk, etc.)

  • Play with siblings.

  • Anything that would be helpful to her!

Baby

  • Offer breastfeeding support

  • Feed baby a bottle to free up mom + dad

  • Give baby a bath

  • Tummy time.

  • Take baby on walk

Nutrition

  • Prepare nutritious meals for mom + family

  • Helping mom research the best supplements to take

  • Meal + snack prep

  • Go grocery shopping for the family

Emotions

  • A listening ear to process through birth story and or life happenings

  • Asking open-ended questions to allow space to process

  • Writing out birth story as mom shares to document

  • Help mom document pictures/milestones

Home

  • Wash and sanitize baby bottles and pump parts

  • Cleaning floors & counters

  • Help fold and put away clothes

  • Wash sheets & remake beds

Spiritual

  • Read through scripture as an encouragement.

  • Pray over mom, dad, + baby

  • Encourage mom + dad set up rhythms of family worship in their home.
